Lord Vishnu is the presiding deity inside the temple. It is a three ft tall black statue made of Saligram stone. According to legends, temple was originally founded by Adi Shankaracharaya however was renovated many times later.

Entrance to the temple is very colourful and is known as Singhdwar. There are three sections in the temple - Sabha mandap- convention hall, second Darshan mandap- worship hall and Garbhgriha which is the sanctum having idols of Lord Vishnu.
